Kyonooto – Azuki
Azuki is a reddish-brown with subtle purple undertones, inspired by the color of azuki (red beans). In Japan, red has long been regarded as a color of good fortune and protection. Sekihan—traditional rice cooked with azuki beans—has been served at celebrations and important occasions for centuries, making this color a symbol of auspiciousness and joyful gatherings.

About the Kyonooto Series
Kyonooto (pronounced kyo-no-o-to) is TAG STATIONERY's fountain pen ink series inspired by the traditional Japanese colors that have been cherished since the Heian period. Each ink is carefully developed to reinterpret these historic colors through modern ink-making techniques, with every shade carrying its own name and cultural story.
Developed in collaboration with the Kyoto Kusakizome Research Institute, the series features dye-based inks known for their beautiful shading and smooth color transitions. Their water-soluble nature also makes them suitable for creative techniques such as blending, washes, and watercolor-like effects with a water brush.
